Changes in hematologic parameters with acute exposure to 1,1,1-trichloroethane.

چکیده
By acute exposure of dogs to 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane and observing the changes in hematologic parameters during and after exposure, the following results were obtained. A marked but temporary decrease in leukocytes was noted 30 minutes after the start of exposure, but no change was observed in the erythrocytes, hematocrit values or thrombocytes. According to leukocyte differential counts, all types of leukocytes showed a decrease. The decrease in neutrophils was particularly prominent. A dose-response relationship was seen between the exposure concentrations of 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane from 200 to 700 ppm. and the grade of decrease in leukocyte counts.

Value of the simultaneous determination of PCO2 in monitoring exposure to 1,1,1-trichloroethane by breath analysis.
Eight volunteers were exposed for eight hours to about 200 ppm of 1,1,1-trichloroethane. On the next morning five series of five alveolar samples were collected for the simultaneous determination of PCO2 and 1,1,1-trichloroethane concentration. Three different methods of sampling were used: voluntary hyperventilation, 10-s breathholding, and "standard." A linear relationship between the alveola...
متن کاملEffects of trichloroethylene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane and carbon tetrachloride on plasma lipoproteins of rats.
Effects of single intraperitoneal administration of trichloroethylene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, and carbon tetrachloride (positive control) on the plasma contents of lipoproteins were investigated in rats. Plasma was fractionated to VLDL, LDL, and HDL by sequential ultracentrifugation. On the administration of carbon tetrachloride at 30 to 1000 mg/kg, VLDL and HDL were reduced dose-dependently, b...
متن کاملEnzymes induced by ethanol differently affect the pharmacokinetics of trichloroethylene and 1,1,1-trichloroethane.
This study was undertaken to clarify the effect of enzymes induced by ethanol consumption on the pharmacokinetics of trichloroethylene (TRI, a highly metabolised substance) and 1,1,1-trichloroethane (1,1,1-TRI, a poorly metabolised substance). Rats maintained on a control liquid diet or a liquid diet containing ethanol (2 g/day/rat) for not less than three weeks were exposed to either TRI (50, ...
متن کاملMetabolic Interactions between Organic Solvents — with Highly and Poorly Metabolized Compounds
Metabolic interactions between organic solvents were clarified with highly and poorly metabolized compounds. m-Xylene (m-X) and trichloroethylene (TRI) were used as examples of highly metabolized compounds. 1,1,1-Trichloroethane (1,1,1) was used as an example of a poorly metabolized compound. Adult male Wistar rats were exposed to various concentrations of m-X, TRI or 1,1,1 for 6 hours singly o...
متن کامل2. Relevance to Public Health 2.1 Background and Environmental Exposures to 1,1,1-trichloroethane in the United States
1,1,1-Trichloroethane is a synthetic chemical. In 2003, the estimated capacity of the commercial production of 1,1,1-trichloroethane in the United States was 510 million pounds. Under the Clean Air Act as amended in 1990, all production of 1,1,1-trichloroethane for domestic use was scheduled to cease as of January 1, 2002. It may be used for essential applications such as medical devices and av...
